GLEN BURNIE, MARYLAND

Kindness creates
brighter tomorrows.

The BWR Foundation carries the memory of Bryce William Riley into the life of our community: bringing neighbors together and making room for kindness to become action.

the foundation

BRYCE WILLIAM RILEY

It begins with Bryce.

Bryce believed in giving back, and the foundation established in his honor keeps that spirit present in the community.

Diagnosed with dermatomyositis at age six, Bryce became an advocate for pediatric care. The foundation’s account describes how he shared his story throughout Maryland, volunteered with the MIX 106.5 Radiothon and WMAR Telethon, and completed more than 1,600 service-learning hours before graduating high school.

Bryce died in 1999 at age 20 following an accident during wheelchair football at the Kennedy Krieger Institute. His life, advocacy and service remain at the heart of BWR.

“He believed deeply in giving back and worked tirelessly in the hope that a cure would one day be found for future generations.”
